Kaspar Hamacher: Stein no.1

Belgian designer Kaspar Hamacher has developed ‘Stein no. 1′; the first installment of a limited edition series.

The low standing coffee table is carved from the trunk of a massive oak tree. the raw nature of the work is reinforced by the visible wood grain and organic shape, echoing that of a weather-worn stone.

 

The images show how the artists chips away at the oak tree trunk using two chainsaws to create a more precise shape.
