Barbie recreations of old master pieces and more
I love these fabulous barbie recreations of famous old master pieces and other well known artists by French Artist Jocelyn Grivaud, and – being a true dutchy – especially this one where Barbie resembles The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer.
Growing up with Barbie and having kept a secret fascination for her elegance and grace, Grivaud’s aim was to adjust the famous Barbie image – too blonde, too skinny, too superficial –to different emblematic representations.
Other favourites of mine are Barbie posing as Mona Lisa (Leonardo da Vinci), The Venus The Milo (Alexandro of Antios), Olympia (Edouard Manet) , Silvia (Otto Dix) and Marilyn Monroe (Andy Warhal)
