Yayoi Kusama at the Tate Modern – from 9 Feb until 5 June 2012
This exhibition of one of the world’s ‘most interesting, arresting and intriguing’ artists, Yayoi Kusama, starts tomorrow and is said to be magical.
The extravagant, polka-dot obsessed 82-year old left her native Japan, and the psychiatric hospital where she resides voluntary, for the first time in 12 years.
It’s her first exhibition in Britain and takes in her entire career as a painter, sculpture, film-maker, novelist and more.
It includes work featuring her signature dots, her liberal use of phalluses, her naked interventions and a spectacular new mirrored room installation conceived specially for the show.
