First Look: Damien Hirst Retrospective, Tate Modern
With a huge Damien Hirst retrospective going on show at Tate Modern on 7 April, 2012, here’s a sneak preview of what we can expect to see from the famous YBA. The retrospective comes mid-career for Hirst, who is now the richest living artist and just finished a worldwide show with the Gagosian.
In his earlier years, Hirst was known for saying he would never be shown in the Tate, saying “Museums are for dead artists… You’d never get me into that place,” so this abrupt turn around has caused many to speculate that the 46-year-old is having a bit of a mid-life crisis.
