Vintage Mixed-Media Collages

I don’t know why there’s so much collage showcased here, as we certainly haven’t used any in our own work, but I’ve just come across these retro collages and was very drawn to the humor in them, along with the vintage imagery, color combo and pertinent social commentary all by Belgium artist Sammy Slabbinck. “I have been collecting vintage magazines and books for a long time now, even before I started cutting them up. I’ve always been attracted to the graphics and imagery from the 50′s to 70′s era creating a database of stock images for myself. A good image stands on it’s own. You look for quality pictures of course but also to the possibilities it creates. So when you combine elements they have to reinforce one another to create something new, always a magic moment.”
