Mischer’Traxler: Gradient Mashrabiya Table
Commissioned by Carwan Gallery, Vienna-based studio Mischer’Traxler has collaborated with an expert Lebanese woodworker to re-define the constructive system of the traditional mashrabiyas – delicate wooden window screens often found in North African and Middle Eastern architecture. By lathing 650 small oak components, the sideboard table showcases a highly crafted gradient of rectangular slats of refined decorative elements. From this, the project exposes the intricate detaling involved in the production process with a complex networkof unique wooden sections.
