On the 5th of October 2013, a cargo ship ran aground in New Zealand pouring 350 tons of oil into the ocean. While the Environment Minister Nick Smith described the oil spill as the nation’s ‘most significant maritime environmental disasters’, volunteers took to the shores to save the local wildlife.

In last week’s rundown of my favorite posters of 2012 I included the work of a young British designer named Sam Ashby who had certainly created one rule-bending posters for two of my very favorite films of the year: The Turin Horse which played with type over a single stark black and white? image so it was a surprise to see his newest poster—unveiled here for the first time—which is a riot of color, detail and illustration.
