With effect from the 24th February 2003, e-Mission will commence trading as The English Group, and the graphic design/ink-on-paper and web operations will be brought together under this single banner.

The last six months have been a rollercoaster of exciting changes and achievements. Firstly, Russell Warren-Fisher joined the team late last summer with responsibility for creative direction. As well as definitively influencing standards and creativity within this business, Russell also finds time to continue in his role as Lecturer in Typography at The Royal College of Art.

A corporate brochure produced for Park Lane Press was recognised with three golds and one bronze in the Consort Royal Design & Print Awards – including a Gold Award for Best Regional Agency. In December, the first issue of The English Group’s publication, ‘Printed Matter’, was recognised with a Gold Award for Print Publishing in the Premier Papers Awards. In 2003, we have been notified that a project for Englender Furniture has been shortlisted in the Corporate Brochure category in the Design Week Awards and today, we have been advised that ‘Printed Matter’ has been selected from over 1000 entries to feature in the Creative Review Annual 2002 to (in the words of Patrick Burgoyne, Editor of The Creative Review), provide illustration of ‘the finest creative works produced in Britain over the course of the last year’.

The diversity of projects undertaken by The English Group range from a 'boutique' studio approach - the communication design equivalent of those inventors confined to a shed at the bottom of the garden; a celebrated image that says as much about what it is to be English as do green hills, grey skies and cricket whites – to the more refined and commercially sensitive design solutions produced for the portfolio of corporate clients that the agency also represents.
