THE ENGLISH GROUP: PROJECT UPDATES

Thursday 30th October was the date of the 2003 Premier Collection Awards for Excellence in Design and Print. This year, the awards ceremony and dinner was held at the V&A Museum. The English Group are again overjoyed at being recognised with an award at this event - in this case, for the design of Part One of its own Portfolio publication.

Other brochures recognised with awards or commendations during the ceremony included publications for Alexander McQueen, Dunhill, Selfridges and The Eden Project (to name but a few), and it is pleasing indeed for The English Group to be recognised alongside such company.

In producing a promotional brochure for itself, The English Group was especially able to enjoy and indulge in the print processes. By way of example, the cover of the brochure features white foil detail on a white uncoated stock with an etched steel tab to complete the design. The interior pages all follow a glascine interleave. These pages are all french-folded into a perfect bound construction - the attention to detail is such that even the interior of these pages is printed.

The best judge of good design is in its effectiveness. In this case, the brochure has performed superbly. The English Group has been recognised and rewarded with one superb new account win after another over the course of recent weeks - and we shall look forward to releasing details of these particularly exciting projects as they become closer to fulfilment.
