THE ENGLISH GROUP: PROJECT UPDATES

05/11/03   NEWS UPDATE:   CREAM AWARDS 2003

On Wednesday 5th November, the 2003 Annual Cream Awards were held in Birmingham. During the evening we won four awards - two Golds and two Silvers. Two of the Gold Awards were for Issue No. 1 of our publication Printed Matter, a publication created to explore and exploit the potential for experimental ink on paper techniques. In addition, The English Group’s own stationery was recognised with a Silver Award. Our final Silver Award was for a brochure produced for HAIKU (Fine Art) Limited which is an especially definitive example of the print medium and impressively demonstrates stochastic repro techniques.

Without doubt, the highlight of the evening – and wholly unexpected – was that we were also awarded the Grand Prix! A single prize that the Cream judges described as a special award for the one project that "...stood head and shoulders above all of the other 700 entries into this year’s competition, across all categories...". This was awarded to Issue No. 1 of Printed Matter.
