THE ENGLISH GROUP: PROJECT UPDATES

10/04/06   PROJECT UPDATE:   THE ORANGE BRITISH ACADEMY FILM AWARDS IN 2006

The English Group is proud to have been engaged by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts, for a third year, to produce all print collaterals for the Academy's Film Awards event, including an Official Partners brochure, a Nominations brochure, the event tickets and menus, and a 208pp commemorative Awards publication.

Alongside the many design challenges that this project creates, The English Group has continued to add to its ongoing project of photographing 'Past Winners' of BAFTAs. These portraits - all shot by Michele Turriani - now number over sixty original images and represent an important snapshot of the film and television industry's talents. Many of the portraits have already been exhibited at the British Academy's headquarters and private members club at 195 Piccadilly. New portraits completed this year include Ricky Gervais, Julie Walters, John Hurt, Bill Nighy and filmakers Kevin MacDonald and Stephen Woolley.

In addition, the Film Awards publications this year were accompanied by an additional photographic project documenting attendees at last years Film and TV Awards. This essay was photographed using Polaroid's 20"x24" camera of which there are only five in the world still working. The monograph contains twenty of these images and includes highly evocative portraits of Anthony Minghella, Dame Helen Mirren, Jim Broadbent, Juliette Lewis, Diane Kruger, James Nesbitt and Graham Norton.
