THE ENGLISH GROUP: PROJECT UPDATES
30/11/07 PROJECT UPDATE: MODERN MUSES BY BRYAN ADAMS
The English Group has been working with Bryan Adams, the National Portrait Gallery and project sponsors BlackBerry to create a portfolio of new portrait commissions of twenty-one of the most inspiring women in the UK. The subjects within the 'Modern Muses' essay span business, campaigning and the arts, and are at all ages and stages in their respective careers.
The portraits are to go on display at the National Portrait Gallery for three months from March 2008, and Bryan Adams along with BlackBerry hosted a Champage Reception for an exhibition of lifesize prints of the new images at The Hospital club in London's Covent Garden on 27 November 2007. The evening was hugely successful, with many of the muses in attendance, including Erin O'Connor, Virginia McKenna, Anne-Marie Duff, Scilla Elworthy, Kanya King and Amma Asante, to name but a few - as well as many other familiar faces. As a result of BlackBerry's financial support these portraits will also be featured within the event publication for the BlackBerry Women And Technology Awards, which The English Group has also been commissioned to oversee.
The English Group designed and created all the exhibition graphics for the Bryan Adams's reception at the Hospital, including a high specification 32 page teaser invitation and a large format exhibition monograph featuring all the portraits. The perfect bound monograph which has been produced in both case-bound and soft-cover editions and is printed on Munken Lynx, supplied by Howard Smith Paper Group.
