Ralph Brown was born in Yorkshire in 1928 and worked as a sculptor for nearly 60 years – before his death in 2013. His work evolved over this period, but always remained true to his obsession with the human figure.
He studied at Leeds and Hammersmith Art Schools and at the Royal College of Art and was a part-time tutor at the RCA Sculpture School from 1958 for many years.
He first exhibited in London in 1953 and showed work widely since then, with solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Continental Europe and the USA.
